Bleh!
At my clinic where I work, one of the doctor's wives is having a little baby girl. I got the grand idea to make them a blanket. I called my sister to find out if I could even make a quilt without having quilter's frames, and she assured me that I could, as well as gave instructions on the whole process. I went to the fabric store and found the most adorable material. I, being so excited, started that evening while Ben was at a softball game. The beginning went very smooth for the most part. I did learn why people use quilters frames versus their bedroom floor, but all in all, for my first quilt without my mom by my side, I was pretty satisfied how things were looking. It went so quick; I remember even thinking to myself I could do this for every baby gift, if I wanted to! HA! That was my first mistake. I decided to put biast tape around the edges to finish it up, and when I began to sew it to the blanket, it didn't lay flat at all, and kinda had a rippled look to it. I grabbed the seam ripper, and took out one whole side of it. Then I went to sewing again. Same thing happened. You can repeat my last few sentences a couple more times, because that's exactly what went on multiple times. My sister emailed me some written instructions to help, but I didn't understand what they were trying to tell me to do so I impatiently tried it again on my own. Should have guessed what would have happened this time, since it worked so well the first 3-4 times previously! Now I have a million tiny holes all throughout the edging and the quilt where stitching has been removed, and it's STILL ugly. I give up. Normally I like to admire a project I just completed, but now I can hardly stand to look at it. Here's your pictures Pamela. Thanks for the help, but next time I may just pay you to do it for me!

Becky, it is not ugly at all. I think it looks great. I'm sure they'll love it.
I'm sorry Becky...But I think you're being WAy TOO hard on yourself!! From the pictures it LOOKS simply ADORABLE!I LOVE your fabric choice!! When I received a quilt at Mason's baby shower- I was SOO touched that someone cared enough to HAND MAKE me something. I didn't care about the fabric or stitches or ANYTHING! Actually Mason still uses it!! I'm sure you're friend will feel the same way! :D
Your quit looks fine and I'm glad to see that you're expanding outside your comfort box. We'll have to see about getting you some quilting frames when we're there in June.
Wait...if you get frames before me...then I'll...well, I'm thinking!!! =) Like I mentioned on the phone...practice practice practice and honestly, it doesn't look that bad!
That fabric is sooooo cute! I would love to make/receive a quilt like that! What is the brand of the fabric?
