Our California Trip!

Here are the stories and pictures from our most recent family vacation. We all had a great time and are glad we endured the long hours in the car to make it work.

I special ordered a couple pillow/lap boards from my dad who did an amazing job constructing them for the girls. I knew it was difficult for them to color or eat in the car, so this was just the solution. It helped out SO much on our trip (coupled with the portable DVD players), and I will never do a road trip again without them. Thanks Dad!!


Once we got into LA, Ben took us around the cities to see the Rose Bowl Stadium. We also got to see the Hollywood sign, the stars on the sidewalks, and we even ran into John Travola. Just kidding about John. Darn it anyway.


The moment the girls had both been waiting for...DISNEYLAND!


I thought this was supposed to be the happiest place on Earth! Courtney definitely didn't start out feeling that way. She wasn't a fan of the Buzz Lightyear ride...which we thought would have been her favorite.

We waited for quite a while thinking that the Finding Nemo ride would be a better success. Ummm...not so much. She didn't like that one either because you're in a tight dark space going below the water in a submarine.


Awe, the teacups! One of my favorites. Dad had to control his urge to vomit even with standing on the sidelines.


We waited FOREVER to see Tinkerbell and the other fairies. This one's name is Silvermist. She was so great with the girls and really made them feel special.

As soon as we left, Ben whispered to me "How would you like to have a job where you're stuck wearing a bathing suit and hugging random children all day long?" All I can say is, they made it look easy! Great job fairies!

Lindsey was so excited to see Goofy. She ran up and instantly began hugging him. She held on to him for a long time, and he let her hug him as long as she wanted to. They kept this pose (above) for a good 15 seconds. I finally told her to let Goofy go. It was priceless!




This was the beginning of Lindsey's roller coaster addiction. She would have gone on all of the others had the park ignored their height limits. Ben had her go on the Matterhorn roller coaster that night and I thought for sure she was going to hate it. Oh no! She came skipping off of the ride saying "It was great!"

Courtney wasn't a huge fan of many rides, but one that she actually did like and still talks about was the Pirates of the Caribbean boat ride. There is a little drop that you go down which had both Ben and I nervous about her reaction. She said "That made my tummy funny!" and "That was fun!" YAY!! The trip to Disneyland wasn't a complete bust for Court! I'm sure she'll get more out of it the next time she goes. It's hard being two.
